Eu de obicei îmi făcusem un ritual. În fiecare concediu îmi alocam anumite zile pentru investigații, analize. Cumva să știu că sunt ok. În 2018 am făcut ritualul. Între timp am început serviciul, dar au venit și rezultatele, iar de la mamografie mi s-a spus că e nevoie să fac și o ecografie. Am tratat cu superficialitate, crezând că nu e ceva urgent.
A fost foarte mică, de 1,2 centimetri. Asta mi-a zis. Partea bună este că e foarte mic, dar nu știm cum va evolua. Așa că trebuie să vă gândiți. Am zis… doamna doctor mi-a zis foarte dur: mămico, ai copii? Da. Câți? Doi. Și vrei să le vezi stadiul de evoluție? Vrei să apuci să îți vezi nepoții? Normal. Păi atunci nu mai te gândi. Ai cancer și mori. Deci ia o decizie acum. Cumva a fost ca un pumn în față.
Și atunci am căutat, m-am interesat, am făcut investigații atât cât m-am priceput, iar în momentul când am luat decizia am reunit toată familia, pentru că nu voiam să spun de mai multe ori, voiam să spun o dată și punct. I-am rugat să nu mă întrerupă, pentru că aș fi putut să nu mai pot continua ce am de spus. Și atunci le-am zis: asta e situația, eu asta o să fac, pe data de mă internez pentru operație.
Domnul doctor cu care am vorbit și care mi-a făcut operația, mi-a dat mai multe alegeri: puncție, sector și bineînțeles, mastectomie. Văzând că într-un final mastectomia va fi ultima, pentru că pot apărea diverse chestii pe parcurs și voi ajunge tot acolo i-am zis: domn doctor - mastectomie. Sunteți sigură? Nu vă sfătuiți cu familia sau nu vă mai gândiți? Nu. Nu mai am 20 de ani. Pot să spun că am avut un complex - faptul că eu am avut sânii mici și parcă mi-aș fi dorit să am niște sâni un pic mai mari. Dar ajungând în situația asta, m-am gândit că important e viața, să trăiesc, să merg mai departe, să mă bucur de ce am.
Cuvintele alea îmi răsunau cumva în ureche: o să fie bine, fă acum ce trebuie și viața merge înainte. Și așa am făcut în 2018, am făcut mastectomie la sân. Toate bune și frumoase. Fiind într-un stadiu de început, stadiul 1, nu am luat decât un tratament hormonal și a fost totul ok. Fără chimio, fără radio, fără... Deci pot să zic că am luat decizia cea mai bună și cumva am făcut alegerea potrivită.
După 2 ani, la una din investigații mi s-a descoperit o tumoră la coloană. Mi-a ieșit că am o tumoră între vertebre, între 5 și S1. Bun. Mergem la operație. M-am operat. Recuperarea a fost mult mai ușoară decât la sân, dar acolo au descoperit și o îngroșare a colului. În urma tratamentului, colul mi s-a îngroșat și era nevoie de un chiuretaj… churetaj, am fost corectată. Și am făcut și chestia asta. Acum sunt ok, fac analizele de periodice, mă simt bine, sunt bine..
Nu, nu m-am gândit de ce acum, de ce eu, de ce mie? Dar am realizat că stresul a fost la mine cauza. Aveam două servicii, doi copii, mâncare, curățenie, lecții, un soț de care trebuia să am grijă și cumva cred că eram depășită de situație, dar nu puteam nici să renunț, pentru că eu depindeam de acele servicii și de, mă rog, de banii respectivi și cumva mă ajuta să îmi ajut copiii să meargă mai departe. Și cred că stresul a fost. Stresul.
Oricum, noi avem ceva în noi și se poate declanșa în urma unor factori, dar dacă accepți și te împaci cu tine și consideri că ce s-a întâmplat nu e un… ceva rău sau o pedeapsă… pur și simplu este un lucru din care poți învăța. Și atunci m-am gândit că atâta timp cât am două mâini și două picioare și sunt sănătoasă și pot merge mai departe, pot să fac orice, chiar îmi pot propune să fac orice îmi bucură sufletul. Dar uitându-mă înapoi și văzând câte prin câte chestii am trecut, mi-am dat seama că totuși sunt o fire puternică, care a știut să facă alegerile corecte și nu s-a lăsat influențată de nimeni și de nimic. Iar principalul e să te bucuri de ce ai, să vezi lucrurile altfel decât le-ai fi văzut înainte. Lucruri mărunte pe care nici nu le observai. Acum, eu am o plăcere din tot ce mișcă și se plimbă pe lângă mine, pe mine mă bucură chiar și… nu știu, orice, orice mă face să mă simt bine și caut să profit de zilele pe care le mai am cât le mai am, că nimeni nu știe… Știi prezentul, mâine nu știi ce va fi. Tocmai de aia caut să mă bucur de viață, de familie, de copii, de nepot și aștept ca fiecare zi să fie una specială.

I used to have a ritual. During each vacation, I would set aside a few days for medical investigations and tests. Just to know that I was okay. In 2018, I went through the ritual. In the meantime, I started work, but the results came in, and the mammogram indicated that I needed to have an ultrasound as well. I treated it superficially, thinking it wasn't something urgent.
It was very small, just 1.2 centimeters. That’s what I was told: the good part is that it’s very small, but we don’t know how it will progress. So, you need to think about it. I said… the doctor told me very harshly: "Mom, do you have children?" ”Yes.” ”How many?” ”Two.” ”And do you want to see them growing up? Do you want to see your grandchildren?” ”Of course.” ”Well then, don’t think any more. You have cancer and you’re going to die. So make a decision now.” It was like a punch in the face.
So I searched, I looked for information, I did investigations as best as I could, and when I made the decision, I gathered the whole family because I didn’t want to repeat it several times, I wanted to say it once and for all. I asked them not to interrupt me because I might not be able to continue what I had to say. And then I said: this is the situation, this is what I will do, I’ll be admitted for surgery on this date.
The doctor I spoke to, who performed the surgery, gave me several options: a biopsy, a sector resection, and of course, mastectomy. Seeing that ultimately mastectomy would be the last option, as various issues might arise and I would end up there anyway, I said: "Doctor, mastectomy." ”Are you sure? Don’t you want to talk about it with your family or think about it more?” “No. I’m not 20 anymore.” I can say I had a complex – the fact that I had small breasts and wished they were a bit bigger. But finding myself in this situation, I realized that life was more important, to live, to move forward, and to enjoy what I have.
Those words somehow echoed in my ears: it will be okay, do what you need to do now, and life will go on. And so, in 2018, I had a mastectomy. Everything went well. Being at an early stage, stage 1, I only needed hormonal treatment, and everything was okay. No chemotherapy, no radiotherapy, nothing... So I can say that I made the best decision and somehow made the right choice.
After 2 years, during one of the investigations, a tumor was discovered in my spine. It turned out that I had a tumor between the vertebrae, between L5 and S1. Alright. Off to surgery. I had the surgery. Recovery was much easier than after the mastectomy, but they also discovered a thickening of the cervix. Following the treatment, the cervix thickened, and a curettage was needed… curettage, I was corrected. And I did that too. Now I’m okay, I have periodic tests, I feel good, I’m fine...
No, I didn’t think about why now, why me, why this happened to me. But I realized that stress was the cause. I had two jobs, two children, had to cook, do the cleaning, homework, a husband to take care of, and somehow I think I was overwhelmed, but I couldn’t give any of those up because I relied on those jobs and, well, on that money, which helped me support my children. And I think stress was the issue. Stress.
Anyway, we have something within us that can be triggered by certain factors, but if you accept and make peace with yourself and consider that what happened is not… something bad or a punishment… it’s simply something you can learn from. And then I thought that as long as I have two hands and two legs and I am healthy and can move forward, I can do anything, I can even set goals to do anything that brings me joy. But looking back and seeing everything I’ve been through, I realized that I am indeed a strong person who made the right choices and was not influenced by anyone or anything. And the main thing is to enjoy what you have, to see things differently than you would have before. Little things that you didn’t even notice before. Now, I find pleasure in everything that moves and surrounds me, I even find joy in... I don’t know, in anything, anything that makes me feel good and I try to make the most of the days I have left, as no one knows… You know the present, but you don’t know what tomorrow will bring. That’s why I try to enjoy life, my family, my children, my grandchildren, and hope that each day will be special.
